There’s always a risk that people forget how funny the chat is on Twitter. Our aim was to remind people that Twitter is home to the funniest football accounts on the internet. Accounts like Steve Bruce at weddings

With his ‘favourite uncle’ face and animated presence on the touchline, Steve Bruce is the ideal man to photoshop into other people's wedding photos. At least that’s what Tweeter, Billy Rice, thought when he launched the account. The sheer randomness appealed to thousands of football fans on Twitter. @Bruceatwedding was seen crashing the Royal wedding, and making the cover of Hello magazine before COVID19 hit pause on the UK’s wedding season.

Fast forward a year, with covid restrictions lifted and weddings set to return, @Bruceatwedding had plans to celebrate and so did we! In homage to this much loved account we asked the real Steve Bruce to give his blessing to an online shop showcasing a range of entirely non-essential Steve Bruce themed wedding accessories. Bruce said “I do”. And the rest is history. ‘Bruce Up Your Wedding.com’, became football fan’s go-to destination for wedding essentials.  People loved it and the sports media did too, with coverage across The Guardian Weekly Football Podcast, Sporf, TalkSport : Hawksbee and Jacobs', Mirror Football and on Radio 1 with Chris Stark.
